About Me

Bio

Hollis Marmac is a Vancouver-based songwriter whose work sits at the intersection of cinematic pop, Americana, soul, and coastal rock. His music is defined by emotional honesty, vivid imagery, and a rare sense of perspective shaped by a lifetime outside the music industry.

Before turning to songwriting, Hollis spent 35 years working in mental health, addiction services, and correctional institutions. That experience—witnessing people at their most vulnerable, resilient, and complex—now forms the foundation of his writing. His songs don’t just tell stories; they carry the weight of real lives, real struggles, and moments of quiet redemption.

Musically, Hollis blends warm acoustic textures, soft piano, and atmospheric layers with restrained, deliberate songwriting. His style often moves from abstract, introspective verses into expansive, emotionally resonant choruses. Recurring imagery of coastlines, changing seasons, and urban nightscapes gives his work a strong sense of place, while his themes remain universal: healing, connection, loss, and renewal.

Now in his 60s, Hollis brings a voice to songwriting that is both seasoned and unfiltered—unconcerned with trends and focused instead on truth. His music feels less like performance and more like reflection—songs that sit with you, unfold slowly, and stay long after they’re heard.
