Eyes Up

Verse One:
How goes the war on the homefront?
How goes the battle in the bedroom
or that skirmish in the kitchen last night
that left your eye and pride bruised!

Pre-chorus:
You said for better or for worse...

Chorus:
Now the lines are being drawn
The list goes on and on
The battle rages on
and still nobody's "wrong".

Verse Two:
Channel Six held the fight
in less than critical esteem.
Blowing parts of your heart away
while destroying all her dreams.

Pre-chorus:
You said for better or for worse...

Chorus:
Now the lines are being drawn
The list goes on and on
The battle rages on
and still nobody's "wrong".

Bridge:
Finally you see the truth -
it's too late for the two of you.

Pre-chorus:
You said for better or for worse...

Chorus:
Now the lines are being drawn
The list goes on and on
The battle rages on
and still nobody's "wrong".

Outro:
Still nobody’s “wrong”,
Still nobody’s “wrong”,
Still nobody’s right!

Nobody's Wrong

Verse One:
If the city were on fire, even if it were aflame;
it couldn't match the glow in your eyes
or the way you take my breath away.

Chorus One:
Maybe I'll find it in myself
to go ahead and take the chance.
Lock my fear into a little cell
finding courage to ask you to dance.

Verse Two:
If the world stopped turning,
even if it came to an end -
If your eyes lose their glow
know I'll always be your friend.

Chorus Two:
Maybe I'll find it in myself
to go ahead and take the chance.
Release my heart as well
I’ll find the courage to ask you to dance.

Bridge:
Know that in the end of our days,
I will never be swayed.
And if they lay you to rest before I go
I'll never forget the way your eyes glow

Glow

Verse One:
It seems I trapped myself with this prediction:
I'm merely human and frail
I've lowered the anchor named "what will people think of me"
and wondered why my ship won't sail.

Chorus:
The clouds are freer than I, can’t you see their
moody hearts racing the sky?
One day black, one day white, one day large, one day small.
I can't help but to marvel at the one who made them all
and on my knees I fall.

Verse Two:
Apparently hope is found in the mud on dirty knees.
Lower the head to feel the heart lift.
Realize that the Savior died to live to free
those who were bound in captivity.

Chorus:
The clouds are freer than I, can’t you see their
moody hearts racing the sky?
One day black, one day white, one day large, one day small.
I can't help but to marvel at the one who made them all
and on my knees I fall.

Bridge:
One day I'll fly;
my heart will race the sky.

Freer Than I

Verse One:
It speaks of desire; it wants you to die,
yet has a gleam, a wild hope in its' eye.
It speaks of calm, willing you to live
when you think it's empty it has more to give –
to the heart that’s weary and tired of days gone by

Verse Two:
It speaks of love, the summers with what's her name?
It was frozen that winter when she became the one that got away.
It speaks of hate, of an enemy you will always regret;
how a friend turned his back on you and you can never forget -
falling to your knees saying "I take it all back"

Chorus:
You're a soldier, in a one man parade -
at war with the river, as it twists and turns away.
You'll wake up, on one fragile broken day
to find the strength to carry on
no matter what "they" say.

Verse Three:
It speaks of healing, here you met your wife
the overlooking oak, now knows the sting of your knife.
Your initials are reflected in the stream
like the promise that's reflected in your memories -
as you walked down an aisle and said I do.

Chorus:
You're a soldier, in a one man parade -
at war with the river, as it twists and turns away.
You'll wake up, on one fragile broken day
to find the strength to carry on
no matter what "they" say.

Bridge:
Lay down your arms and just live, just live!

At War With the River

Verse One:
The second hand counts the minutes till you see your love again.
You’re holding fast with baited breath to see the rest of your life begin.
She's perfect in her white dress; of course you knew that -
Like clockwork the organ plays; you see her smile and you smile back.

Verse Two:
This is the day you've long rehearsed, just to make it fit.
You know that he'll be watching with the fire in his eyes lit.
You walk to the front slow and sure, while everyone stands -
It's seems time itself has stopped for you as the two of you join hands

Chorus:
Time will tell, time will tell, time will tell on you.
We’ll watch as the two of you grow old.
Time will tell, time will tell, time will tell on you.
But it can't speak against you
because your love never grew cold
and we’ll remember the day you said I do.

Verse Three:
This is the day you watch as the other one's laid to rest;
the many years have come now to their close.
Reflecting upon the worst and on the best
you're glad this is the one you chose -
Now time starts up again, waiting for you to meet again.

Chorus:
Time will tell, time will tell, time will tell on you.
We’ll watch as the two of you grow old.
Time will tell, time will tell, time will tell on you.
But it can't speak against you
because your love never grew cold
and we’ll remember the day you said I do.

About Me

Bio

Husband/Wife team who love to write! We write songs, poetry and even a short story once in a while. We love empowering others and we have a huge soft spot towards rescue cats and those who rescue them! We do not possess any way to actually post music - so we're focusing on just lyrics for the time being.

CV/History

We have over sixty years of writing experience between the two of us but this is the first time we're making our offerings public and available for purchase. We both listen to just about every type of music and appreciate the lyrics more than the style.
